Hiroshima Pacific Hotel - room

Hiroshima Pacific Hotel

During our month-long trip to Japan, we planned to stay in Hiroshima for a few days to experience this historical city. It was part of our route as we made our way from Tokyo to Osaka and we actually took the bus since we were on a budget during our year-long travel. The bus ride from Kyoto to Hiroshima took almost six hours, but it was worth the experience to visit this important city. If you are planning on visiting Hiroshima from Osaka, you can easily do a day trip from Osaka.

One of our main requirements in finding a hotel in Hiroshima was that it had to be within walking distance to all the major sites. The room was also fairly priced and had a private bathroom, all a huge win for us.

If you are looking for a hotel that’s within walking distance to public transportation and the sites in Hiroshima, this hotel is worth considering.

The ambiance at Hiroshima Pacific Hotel

The hotel is small and definitely dated for its time. However, I was quite impressed that we were able to get a decent room for under $75 USD that came with a private bathroom, so I didn’t care too much that it was older. The fact that the hotel room is clean and came with good service at a reasonable price for Japan was a huge win for me.

Hiroshima Pacific Hotel - double bed

Our non-smoking hotel room with a double bed

We booked a non-smoking room with a double bed. The room came with the basics like an electric kettle, air conditioning and a small desk. There was also a minifridge for guests to use. There are no closets or a safe in the room, so we kept important documents locked in our suitcase.

All toiletries like hair brushes, razors, toothbrushes are kept at reception. There is also coffee, tea and miso soup that guests can enjoy as well.

The bathroom

I did notice when we first came into the room that it was a bit musty and hot, but definitely nowhere near the ventilation issues we experienced at Aloft Taipei Zhongshan. Fortunately, we could open windows to get air circulation and all was fine afterwards. While the room had air conditioning, ours was blowing hot air. It wasn’t hot for us so it didn’t make much of a difference to have it on.

Noise was not an issue at this hotel and we had very restful nights of sleep.

The bed is smaller than your typical double bed but we slept fine.

More toiletries are available on the main floor

The reception was friendly and some of the staff members spoke good English. Another great thing about the hotel is that it sold a day pass for the ferry and streetcar in Hiroshima, which saved us the hassle of having to buy the pass at the station. The price of the day pass is the same as what you would have paid at the station and we were able to pay with credit card.

Of course there’s a vending machine

The location of Hiroshima Pacific Hotel

Hiroshima Pacific Hotel - Dome

This hotel is within walking distance to the Dome

The best part about this hotel is the location as it is close to all the places we wanted to visit. The Peace Dome and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was just fifteen minute walk from our hotel. Getting to Hiroshima Pacific Hotel from the train station or bus station is also easy to do by foot as it about fifteen minutes to walk from either location. The Hiroshima Castle is also a short walk from the hotel.

Getting to Miyajima Island from this hotel is also very easy from this hotel, which was another big plus for us!

Conclusion

I have no complaints about this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who is travelling on a budget but wanting a private bathroom. Clean and basic is what you get when you book this hotel.
