The Westin Singapore is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. That’s no surprise, considering how Singapore is one Asia’s hottest destinations with tons of luxury hotels for you to choose from. While this hotel is often viewed as a good business hotel, I felt it was perfect for my four-day vacation to Singapore. Location wise, this luxury hotel was perfect to see the highlights of Singapore.
Interesting tidbit: Westin Singapore is the highest hotel lobby in the country to date since it sits on the 32nd floor of Asia Square Tower 2.
My hotel room at the Westin Singapore
I can’t remember the room number, but I know we stayed on the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) floor and had the corner unit since I was a gold member of the Starwood Preferred Guest program. Upon entering the room, I can see right away that the layout of the unit is functional and practical.
I took an overnight flight from Mauritius and was up all night by this point. Needless to say, I needed a nap as soon as I arrived in Singapore. While I am not super fussed about my sleeping arrangements and have slept on the ground for months at a time, my restful sleep made me appreciate the value of a high-quality bed. What I love about the SPG chain of hotels is that the quality of the bedding is consistent everywhere I go.
The bathroom with my dream bathtub at the Westin Singapore
And now for the best part of the room – the tub with the view. No joke, I knew Westin Singapore was the place I wanted to stay when I saw photos of the bathtub overlooking the city. While I am not big on baths, I took a bath every single night while in Singapore. Those quiet moments gazing out the window made me feel spoiled and euphoric.
One interesting (odd?) thing to note is the location of the toilet. The doors to the bathroom are made of clear glass. It is also located in front of the bathroom window. So you literally can do your business while looking out to Singapore. Yep, a bit awkward and a bit of a nuisance to have to turn the shades down each time you do your business. Another inconvenience is this weird smell that emits from the toilet. Not something you’d expect from a five-star hotel. I called the front desk, but they didn’t offer to do much about it and told me to wait for the smell to pass.
The service at the Westin Singapore
The service was not bad. I was able to check-in early and was offered refreshing tea at the reception. We then found a lovely welcome gift when we arrived at our room. Perfect for us me considering how I was so hungry but feeling too tired to go outside to hunt for food. Being the desserts person that I am, you can only imagine my delight when I found this tray full of desserts!
The location of the Westin Singapore
Since the Westin Singapore is above a commercial building, there are tons of food shops and bars in the same complex. The hotel is also conveniently located within walking distance from the Marina Bay Sands, Chinatown, and the MRT. What’s also impressive about the place is that it is right next to Lau Pa Sat, a popular and lively hawker food court.
The facilities at the Westin Singapore
I wish I could comment more on the amenities, (especially the infinity pool!) but I simply ran out of time and did not spend any R&R at the pool. What a waste, I know. One of the biggest reasons why I booked this hotel was actually because of the beautiful infinity pool (and of course the dreamy tub overlooking Singapore)!
Because I was an SPG Gold member, I had access to the Westin Executive Club Lounge, which is one of the finest meeting venues in Singapore. That’s no surprise, given that it overlooks the country and has a modern design.
Final thoughts on the Westin Singapore
The Westin Singapore hotel was such a great place for our trip in Singapore. The location was perfect and the bathtub was incredible.
